He wwas stricken at home (52 North Pearl St., Oakfield) and was pronounced dead on arrival at Genesee Memmorial Hospital. He was buried on 26 Jul 1982 in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee, NY.(8)(16) A former printer with Fix Printing Co, he move to Oakfield in 1929 and worked for Charles Westervelt of the Oakfield Independent. In 1940, he and Arthur Richter, bought the Independent, publishing a weekly newspaper and doing commercial printing. In 1946, he bought Mr. Richter's interest in the company and continued operations until 1950 when he formed a partnership with son, Donald. He retired in 1969, but continued in the business on a part-time basis. He was a member of the Oakfield Methodist Church, a 50 Year member of the Oakfield Fire Department, past noble grand of IOOF 496 of Alabama, NY and past cheif patriarch of Genesee Encampment IOOF 59. He was also a member of Batavia Lodge 475, F&AM; Western Star Chapter 35, Royal Arch mason; Nundawaga Council 92, Royal Select Masters and was past commander of Batavia Commandery. He received a dedicated service award and the honor of Meritorious Companion in Royal Arch Masonry. He was a Charter member of the Oakfield Rod and Gen Club and the Oakfield-Alabama Lions Club. He was married to Erma Cecelia KILNER (daughter of
Ervin DeForest KILNER and Mary Emma REHEISER) on 20 Jun 1925
in LeRoy, Genesee, NY.(16) They were
married at the home of Erma's sisiter, Mrs. Charles Sullivan at 9 Summit Street.

was born on
19 Sep 1905 in Batavia, Genesee, NY. She died on 22 Mar 1993 in St. Jerome's
Hospital, Batavia, Genesee, NY. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia,
Genesee, NY. Erma was a 50 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oakfild
Fire Department and the Oakfield United Methodist Church. Erma was a 50 year

total of 38 years, first running it with her husband, and then after retiring,
