16. John Rheinhart HEINTZ (1) was born on 6 Jun 1827 in Niederlauterbach, Bas Rhin, Alsace, France.(1) He died on 5 Dec 1898 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.(5) Batavia Daily News:
A Resident of Genesee County Nearly All His Life- 72 years old. John Heintz, for 60 years a resident of Genesee County, died at 11 O'clock this morning at his home No. 5 Harvester Ave. He had been in feeble health for a long time and had been confined to his bed for about a week, but the end came suddenly and unexpedtely. He suffered two strokes of paralysis this morning and did not rally. The funeral will be held from the house at 9:30 and from St. Joseph's church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Mr. Heintz lived in Sheldon when a boy and came form that town to Batavia thence going to Alexander in 1872 and conducting the hotel in that village for about 15 years, then returned to batavia where he has since lived. he was highly esteemed by all who knew him , being honest, upright, kind, considerate and courteous. He leaves a widow and three sons, Johm R. Heintz of the Buffalo firm of Demary, Heintz and Lyman, Henry Heintz of Lexington, VA and Charles J. Heintz of Batavia. He was buried in St Joseph's Cemetary, Batavia, Genesee, NY. Copy of death certificate and will on file at Probate court in Batavia, genesee, NY.
John is buried at St. Josephs Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee, New York with his wife, father, and daughter, Mary. John ran a hotel in Alexander, NY for 15 years he also operated a grocery store for a number of years.

One of the neatest stores in Batavia is that conducted by Mr. J.R. Heintz at No 506 Main Street. Here one is able to secure a fine grade of all the better classes of groceries, provisions, cigars, taobaccos, notions and confections. In fact it would be difficult for one to ask for any of the finer table delicacies without being promptly supplied. The premises occupied consist of a store room 24 by 40 feet, conveniently fitted in a manner, that attracts attention and through untiring efforts the owner has built up a thriving trade. Mr. Heintz is an enterprising and progressive business man standing high in the commerical and industrial circles of his city.

He was married to Mary PRILL (daughter of John PRILL and (PRILL)) on 1 Jan 1855 in Sheldon, Wyoming, New York.(1) (6) Mary PRILL was born on 24 Nov 1836 in Kassel, Germany. She died on 19 Sep 1921 in Batavia, Genesee, NY. (5) Batavia Daily News
Mrs. mary Heintz, widow of John Heintz, died at 3:35 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home, No. 548 East Main Street. She suffered a shock of paralysis last Friday, form which she failed to rally. Mrs. Heintz, whose maiden name was Mary Prill, was almost a lofelong resident of this city. She was born in Germany on November 21, 1836, byt came to Batavia when only five years of age. Her husband died in December 1897. Mrs. Heintz is survived by a son, Henry Heintz of Covinton, VA; a sister, Mrs Katherine Fisher of No. 10 Elm Street; nine grandchildren, Norris and Harold J. Heintz, Mrs. Alfred Corti andMisses marian and Gladys Heintz, all of Batavia, Carl Heintz, and Mrs. William Kennedy of Buffalo and Misses Florence and Mary Heintz of Covington, VA and nine great grand chhildren. she was a member of St. joseph's church. Funeral services will be held at Mrs. Heintz's late homw and at 9:30 o'clock at St. joseph's church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. She was buried on 21 Sep 1921 in St Joseph's Cemetary, Batavia, Genesee, NY.(5) The Rev. T. Bernard Kelly officiated at the funeral of Mrs. John Heintz, held at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Joseph's church. Services were held at 9 o'clock at her late home, no 548 East Main Street. John P Casey, Stephen W. Brown, Geoge W. Buchholtz, George C. Plock, Herbertf. Real and Fred D. Lehmann were the bearers and the interment was in St. joseph's cemetery. Mrs. John R. Heintz, Carl Heintz, Mrs. william Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. John Balsher and Mrs. Mary Henches, all of Buffalo, and Mrs. Mary Prill and daughter Lois of Pavilion attended the funeral. Copy of Death Certificate from Batavia, Genesee, NY. Will on file at Probate office in Batavia. She is listed in the 1900 census for Batavia, Genesee, NY, as immigrating from Prussia in 1841. She was buried in St Joseph's Cemetary, Batavia, Genesee, NY. Mary Heintz was unmarried and left her estate to her nieces and nephews. In Probate Court; Petitions for Administration dated Nov. 11, 1922, filed by Norris C. Heintz. Also on file are: Bonds vol.7 p.186; Order awarding letters, Orders Book vol.16 p.286;Letters, Letters Adm. Book vol.11 p.360. All records are on file in Batavia, Genesee County, NY; Probate Court.
Buried in St. Josephs Cemetery, section 1, plot 17, graves 45-48 with Mother (Mary), Father (John) and Grandfather (John).
