Lois Lydia HAMMOND ⁽⁶⁾ (photo) was born on 25 Mar 1882 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾⁽¹²⁾ She died on 30 Jan 1973 in Utica, NY.⁽⁹⁾⁽⁶⁾ She died at 4:15 am at the Masonic Home in Utica where she had been a resident since 1968. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽¹³⁾ Burial in plot 692-A. Map in files. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Batavia Chapter of OES, and a member of teh Rebekah Lodge.

She was married to William Edward WICKS (son of Stephen Ackley WICKS and Christiana HAIGHT) on 31 Dec 1902 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾⁽⁹⁾ The home of Mr. and Mrs. OD Hammond, No. 37 Central Avenue, was the happy scene Wednesday afternoon of the happy and pretty wedding when their daughter, Miss Lois Lydia became the bride of W. Edward Wicks in the presence of about 40 relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The house was prettily decorated for the ocassion in green and white. The bride was unattended and wore a handsome gown of cator silk trimmed with lace and carried a shower bouquet of carnations. Rev CF Creighton performed the cerrmony promptly at 5 o'clock. Previous to the ceremony Miss Laura Smith played the Lohengrin wedding chorus and during the ceremony "O Promise Me". After the ceremony and after the young people had recieved the congratulations of the assembled guests, a bountiful wedding repast was served, the bride's table being trimmed with green and white. Mr. and Mrs. Wicks are now on a brief wedding trip and will be home a t No. 27 Central Ave,.after February 1st. The following were the out of town guests: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wicks, Mr, and Mrs. Howard Isaac, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones and Eli Jones of Elba, Mr. E. Clark of Fulton, Miss Pearl Rolfe of Wellsville, Miss Alice Capin, Miss Laura Smith and W. Schwartz of Buffalo, and Mr. and Mrs. Sunricker of Attica. William Edward WICKS⁽⁹⁾⁽⁶⁾ (photo) was born on 5 Dec 1872 in Elba, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾ He died on 13 Oct 1927 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾⁽⁶⁾ Rev. Ernest W. Collings, pastor of the Mthodist Episcopal church, officiated at the burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, NY- The bearers were Harry W. Driber, John A. Will, Ray B. Gowing, A. Edward Hanns, Harry Lapp and George Miller all of Batavia, NY. He died of heart failure. He was buried on 15 Oct 1927 in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾⁽¹³⁾ Burial in plot # 692.- Map in files. He was employed by the former Baker Gen &Forging Co. for a time and then went into the automobile accessories business. In his business he was a partner of Ray B. Gowing and later of John A Will. He was a member of Batavia lodge #475, F&AM, Batavia Chapter - RAM, a life member of Batavia lodge of the Elks, and a member of Batavia lodge #107-IOOF. Lois Lydia HAMMOND and William Edward WICKS had the following children:

+96 i. Ackley Decoral WICKS⁽⁶⁾ was born on 2 Feb 1905 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ He was born at 25 Central Ave. in Batavia. He died on 23 Jul 1982 in Oakfield, Genesee, NY. He died of a heart attack. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾ A former printer with Fix Printing Co, he move to Oakfild in 1929 and worked for Charles Westervelt of the Oakfield Independent. In 1940 he and Arthur Richter, bought the Independent, publishing a weekly newspaper and doing commercial printing. In 1946, he bought Mr. Richter's interest in the company and continued operations until 1950 when he formed a partnership with son, Donald. He retired in 1969, but continued in the business on a part-time basis. He was a member of the Oakfield Methodist Church, a 50 Year member of the Oakfield Fire Department, past noble grand of IOOF 496 of Alabama, NY and past cheif patriarch of Genesee Encampment IOOF 59. He was also a member of Batavia Lodge 475, F&AM; Western Star Chapter 35, Royal Arch mason; Nundawaga Council 92, Royal Select Masters and was past commander of Batavia Commandery. He recieved a dedicated service award and the honor of Meritorious Companion in Royal Arch Masonry.
+97 ii. Harold LaVern WICKS was born on 20 Mar 1907 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ He was born on Ellsworth Ave. He died on 9 Sep 1971.⁽¹²⁾
+98 iii. Loren Hammond WICKS⁽⁶⁾ was born on 28 Nov 1909 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ He was born on Ellsworth Ave. He weighed 10 pounds. He died on 24 Aug 1972 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ Srevices were conducted by Rev. James W. McConell. He was buried in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba, Genesee, NY.⁽⁹⁾ Loren lived at the family home, 4035 West Main Road, Batavia, NY. and was an employee of EN Rowell Co. for 46 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Batavia Lodge 475 F&AM, Town of Batavia Fireman's Exempt Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Sons of Union Veterans.
+99 iv. John Raymond WICKS⁽⁶⁾ was born on 14 Mar 1914 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ He was born at 16 Ellsworth Ave. He died on 24 Feb 1971. He was a toolmaker at Buerk Tool & Machine Corp., Buffalo, NY. He was a member of Buffalo Garden lodge of the IOOF and the the United Methodist Church.
+100 v. Evlyn Onolee WICKS⁽⁹⁾ was born on 27 Mar 1915 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ She was born at 16 Ellsworth Ave. She was a member of Manlius Chapter #493 OES since April 27, 1949 and matron in 1954.
+101 vi. Jeanette Maebelle WICKS⁽⁹⁾ (photo) was born on 2 Feb 1917 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁶⁾ She was born at 16 Ellsworth Ave. They had no children.
+102 vii. Robert Oscar WICKS Sr. was born on 19 May 1926 in Batavia, Genesee, NY.⁽⁸⁾ He was born at the house on West Main Road.
