She died at 4:15 am at the Masonic Home in Utica where she had been a
resident since 1968. She was buried on 2 Feb 1973 in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia,
Genesee, NY.(27)
(16) Burial in plot 692-A. Map in files. Lois attended Batavia Union
School. In 1897-98 she was in the 8th Grande at the Ross St. school in the class
taught by Emma L. Comstock. She was a member of the United Methodist Church,
Batavia Chapter of OES, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. In the 1900 Batavia
Directory she is listed as a milliner at 27 Central Ave. [ the home of her parents].
She was married to William Edward WICKS (son of Stephen Ackley
WICKS and Christiana HAIGHT) on 31 Dec 1902 in Batavia, Genesee,
NY.(16)(8)
The home of Mr. and Mrs. OD Hammond, No. 37 Central Avenue, was the happy
scene Wednesday afternoon of the happy and pretty wedding when their daughter,
Miss Lois Lydia became the bride of W. Edward Wicks in the presence of about
40 relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The house was prettily
decorated for the ocassion in green and white. The bride was unattended and
wore a handsome gown of castor silk trimmed with lace and carried a shower bouquet
of carnations. Rev CF Creighton performed the cerrmony promptly at 5 o'clock.
Previous to the ceremony Miss Laura Smith played the Lohengrin wedding chorus
and during the ceremony "O Promise Me". After the ceremony and after
the young people had recieved the congratulations of the assembled guests, a
bountiful wedding repast was served, the bride's table being trimmed with green
and white. Mr. and Mrs. Wicks are now on a brief wedding trip and will be home
a t No. 27 Central Ave,.after February 1st. The following were the out of town
guests: Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wicks, Mr, and Mrs. Howard Isaac, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Jones and Eli Jones of Elba, Mr. E. Clark of Fulton, Miss Pearl Rolfe of Wellsville,
Miss Alice Capin, Miss Laura Smith and W. Schwartz of Buffalo, and Mr. and Mrs.
Sunricker of Attica. The 1880 census shows a servants living with them - Alexander
McCargs from England. Christiana's mother is living with them also.

(16) He died suddenly at his home
at 6 am. He had been in ill health and confined to his bed for the last four
weeks. He died of heart failure. He was buried on 15 Oct 1927 in Elmwood Cemetery,
Batavia, Genesee, NY.(8)
(27) Rev. Ernest W. Collings, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church,
officiated at the burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia, NY- The bearers were Harry
W. Driber, John A. Will, Ray B. Gowing, A. Edward Hanns, Harry Lapp and George
Miller all of Batavia, NY. Burial in plot # 692.- Map in files. He was employed
by the former Baker Gen & Forging Co. for a time and then went into the automobile
accessories business. In his business he was a partner of Ray B. Gowing and
later of John A Will. He was a member of Batavia lodge #475, F&AM, Batavia
Chapter - RAM, a life member of Batavia lodge of the Elks, and a member of Batavia
lodge #107-IOOF. Lois Lydia HAMMOND and William Edward WICKS had the following
